FAQ for Bangkok
How do I conveniently get from the airport to the central parts of Bangkok?
The most convenient and best way to get from Suvarnabhumi airport to the city is by taxi. As the arrival hall is on the ground floor of the airport, a lot of taxi coordinators have gathered near the exit. Hiring these taxi operators is usually much more expensive than it should be to get into town. Furthermore, don’t have too high expectations on the “limousines” that are on offer; unless you want to go by a Volvo from the early 90’s, that is. If you instead exit the airport on your own you will have the possibility to line up in a taxi queue. The fee for this service is 50 baht and after that you will have to pay the taxi driver and some toll fees that come on top. Moreover, since this is the most popular option you can expect having to wait for a while before you can depart.

So, what to do instead? Well, a good advice is to go up two floors. There you will find all the taxis that let people off at the airport. These drivers will be more than happy just to get a client with them back to town. Apart from not having to line up in a queue, there is also no 50 baht service fee. However, toll fees must of course still be paid. Normally these fees will amount to around 70 baht (ca. 7 EUR). Don’t go by illegal cabs. Instead, choose a taxi with a yellow registration sign with black text and a taxi-sign on the roof.
