Until today, MBK is undoubtedly the most famous shopping complex in Bangkok — at least among the tourists. However, it might not take long until the fairly new shopping center, Paragon — “The pride of Bangkok”, takes over the throne.
MBK is the most well-known shopping center in Bangkok, especially when it comes to copies. However, you will also find original products when exposing yourself to the massive supply. The combination makes MBK an obvious one-stop place for someone who is interested in shopping. The largest shop in the complex is Tokyo — a department store that is present on no less than four floors. The products sold at Tokyo are not copy cats, but instead real goods at affordable prices. Despite offering products of famous brands such as Lacoste and Timberland, more unknown marks dominate Tokyo’s supply. On the ground floor of Tokyo one can find shoes, swimming clothes, underwear etc. On the first floor, particular women’s wear is on offer, whereas another floor focuses men’s wear. Yet another floor has the layout of a supermarket, offering everything between office accessories to hygiene articles.
On the ground floor of MBK there are everything from fast food restaurants to clothes stores, shops selling arts, copy centers, jewelries etc. On the second floor you will find watches, belts, shoes, photo centers etc. On the third floor you will find health- and beauty products and more. On the fourth floor there are telephones and electronic equipments on offer. Floor five is the furniture store. This floor is not as crowded as many of the other floors. A food court is located at the one end of floor five. On floor six, there is another food court offering especially Thai dishes at low prices. Here you will be able to eat delicious food, and still get quite full, for less than 60 baht. Moreover, floor 6 is a good place to get your t-shirts, shorts, hood sweaters etc. This place is sited at the other end of the building from the food court. The easiest way to find this place is if you are on the cinema floor (floor seven) and just take the escalator to one floor down and then instantly walk to the right.
On MBK’s floor seven, hours and hours can be spent for instance if you are waiting for a flight that will depart late. Here you can see a movie, visit an internet café, eat ice-cream or go dining at a restaurant. Should you be here during lunch time, we would like to recommend you to try the Japanese restaurant “Fuji”, which offers low priced, unbeatable lunch sets to high quality. After that, why not try a super huge ice-cream at Swensen’s or Baskin Robbins — calorie bombs you name it!
MBK is open daily between 10.00 am and 10.00 pm. The most convenient way to get here is with skytrain. Either you can go off at the station “Siam” and walk to the shopping center. Another option is to go off at the National Stadium station, which connects to the shopping center through a walking system. If you would like to leave MBK by taxi, you should go to the ground floor and then out on the back side of the building. There you will find many cars waiting for you!
